Colliford Salmon Hatchery is situated beneath the dam at Colliford Reservoir. The reservoir and dam are the start of the St Neot River (proper name River Loveny) which is a tributary of the River Fowey.

South West Water own the site – and as part of their mitigation for loss of spawning grounds and adverse flows in the St Neot – fund the Hatchery to raise Salmon for stocking back to the river.

The Hatchery produces between 25,000 – 40,000 salmon fry each year as part of an annual cycle of collecting Broodstock salmon from The Fowey, stripping eggs and milt, hatching those eggs and finally growing them on and stocking them out.
